Can Opener Creations editor and local skimboarder David Haefele took 4th place in the 18-21 year old division of the World Champion of Skimboardingthis past month. For those of you who don’t know, the WCS09 is sponsored by Victoria Skimboards and held annually. It is one of the largest and highly rated skimboarding competitions. In this video you get a glimpse of why he is in the top 4 18-21 year old amateurs.

According to the OCRegister, the ‘Wedge”, at Newport Beach, is expecting waves up to 20 feet. According to Surfline, the swell will peak Thursday and Friday. The big waves are generated from a storm east of Tahiti.
Over this past weekend, I got to see some of the clips form the upcoming ‘Get Some” skimboarding movie. The team at Can Openner Creations is working on editing the movie for a late summer or early fall release.
The movie looks great. It has some amazing shots of local skimboarders and some hilarious clips.
I look forward to the final product.

The 33rd annual Victoria Skimboards World Championship of Skimboarding prelimiary heats were held today at Aliso Creek in Laguna Beach California. The pro heats started at 9am with a great swell and great weather.
